Eileen Mitchell, 82, of Lafayette passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community. She was born February 28, 1936, in Lafayette to the late Thomas Allen and Marian Feldt Payne. Eileen graduated from Monitor High School in 1954.  Her marriage was to John L. Mitchell and he preceded her in death on May 22, 2015.  

Eileen worked as a Secretary for Fairfield Manufacturing for 17 years and retired in 1998.  She had previously worked for General Automotive, Andover Wire and the Co-Op Poultry farm. 

She enjoyed crafts, camping, open wheel sprint cars and NASCAR.  Eileen was talented at crocheting and  won a ribbon at the Tippecanoe County Fair for a crocheted bridal doll.  She loved spending time with  her family and her  little dog Maddie.

Surviving her children Gerald (Debra) Mitchell of St. Petersburg, FL, Jacqueline  Mitchell of Lafayette, grandchildren Brayton and Jacob Letson of Lafayette, Heather, Holly, Derek and Eric Eisengart and 14 great grandchildren.  Also surviving are her sisters Donna (Ronald) Kennedy, Carol Payne all of Lafayette and Bonnie (Mark) Hutsell of Monticello.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, 400 Twyckenham Blvd.  Service will be at 10:00 am on Thursday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel., Pastor Chester Tague Jr. officiating.  Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens West Lafayette, IN.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, American Cancer Society or Almost Home Humane Society in Eileen’s memory.
